Aidi G.V.’s Exhilarating Short Stories! Issue #3

Be a gangster

Hubert had just lost his job. News of Hubert's fate traveled fast and his father caught wind of it. The minute Hubert entered his home his father jumped out of the living room. Be a gangster, his father told him. Hubert was uncertain of what to say. Just then his younger brother appeared, still clad in school uniform. His father also told his younger brother to be a gangster. His younger brother frowned and said he only wants to go to school. His father persisted and said being a gangster is more beneficial. Hubert, under the weight of losing his job and having to deal with his father’s unusual attitude, decided to just stalk away and hid in his room. When he dropped on his bed to grasp the comfort of the world being heaved away his handphone rang. It was his boss. Ex-boss now. And his ex-boss told him to be a gangster. Hubert hung up the phone. The door to his room rattled from a series of knocks. Hubert trickled away from his bed and dragged the door open. His mother was there and she offered him his favourite dish: potato salad. As he reached out for the dish his mother told him to be a gangster. Only then did he feel that he should be a gangster. On the evening of the following day Hubert came home with news that he had just lost his job as a gangster.

The End.

Then a bright light shine through Hurbert's room window. A deep voice telling Hurbert.

"Thou shall not give up. Thou just lost your job, not your passion."

Hubert's mother came into his room and shouted.

"WTF Hubert?! Stop taking drug. You are hallucinating. There is no light and no one talking outside the window!"

Hubert reply.

"But mum, How you know if I am hallucinating light and voice while I havent say any single words since you came into my room?"
